Welt können im „Vivarium“ besucht werden. Eine Bootsfahrt
über den Steinbrücker Teich am Oberwaldhaus, öffentliche,

der Technischen Universität Darmstadt locken ins Grüne.
Im Sommer laden zwei innerstädtische Badeseen zum
Schwimmen ein. Der Badetempel „Jugendstilbad“ im original
historischen Ambiente aus dem Jahr 1909 hat seine Pforten
das ganze Jahr über geöffnet.
Acht Theater, 18 Museen und Ausstellungshäuser sowie eine
große Anzahl von Bibliotheken, Kinos und Galerien bieten ein
umfangreiches Kulturangebot.
Darmstadt ist außerdem Pforte zum touristisch attraktiven
Odenwald und zur malerischen Bergstraße. Das Umland bietet
zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten, kulturelle Angebote und Frei
zeitmöglichkeiten – vom Urpferdchen des UNESCO Weltnatur
erbes Grube Messel bis zur Burg Frankenstein.
Rund um das erste Wochenende im Juli erobern sich die

Heiner“ die City bei einem der größten innerstädtischen
Volksfeste Deutschlands: Das Heinerfest bietet nicht nur
Karussells und Kulinarisches, sondern auch mehr als 100
kostenlose Kulturveranstaltungen.

Time, to discover Darmstadt on one of the numerous guided
tours, which the Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt Marketing
GmbH offers. Or you can take time for one of the numerous
attractive leisure offers: animals from all over the world can be
seen in “Vivarium”. A boat trip over the Steinbrücker pond at
Oberwaldhaus, ornately arranged public parks and the botani
cal garden of the Technical University of Darmstadt lure you
into the outdoors.
In the summer you can swim in two natural lakes in the city.
The bathing temple “Jugendstilbad” in the original historical
ambience from the year 1909 is open throughout the year.
Eight theatres, 18 museums and exhibition houses as well as
a large number of libraries, cinemas and galleries present an
extensive offer of culture in this major city.
In addition, Darmstadt is the gateway to the attractive Oden
wald area and to the pictorial “Bergstraße”. The surrounding
countryside offers numerous objects of interest, cultural and
leisure facilities – they range from the “Urpferdchen” of the
UNESCO World Heritage Messel Pit to Frankenstein’s castle.
Around the first weekend in July the “Heiner” captivates the
city centre with one of the largest folk festivals in Germany:
